• What should I wear?

One should dress in comfortable attire which would be appropriate for a public place. You may not wear shoes in our Salt Room. We provide shoe/foot covers or you can bring fresh, clean white socks. You can go into the room with clean white socks for a type of reflexology experience, the salt rocks are not comfortable to walk on and can be rather sharp. Please be sure to bring socks for your children. If you have a skin condition you may want to wear something that exposes more skin. For those without skin conditions such as (dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis)…these conditions are not contagious and cannot be passed from one person the other. The salt in the air will not harm or be noticeable on your clothes. For children we ask that long hair be pulled back in a ponytail.

  • What should one expect when visiting our Salt Room?

We keep our temperature in the rooms around 70 degrees. This carefully regulated climate allows our room to be very comfortable. We have secure locker cabinets to lock up your valuables. No cell phones, computers or food and drink are permitted in the room.

  • How sterile is the salt room – could someone pick up germs?

The answer is our salt rooms are made entirely out of salt from the walls to the ceilings to the floor which helps to create a hypo-bacterial and allergen-free air environment. Salt is a natural antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and will kill just about any bacteria on contact. The salt you breathe in is a pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride that kills bacteria and airborne pathogens on contact. Our salt absorbs the bacteria and creates a sterile environment. Although we cannot guarantee that you will not pick up any germs, it is highly unlikely though, the microclimate in each salt room is actually more sterile than a modern day surgical room. In addition, following each session all the air is exhausted out of the room and fresh air is pumped in. Also, all chairs, surfaces and toys are sanitized after each use.

  • Can I bring in food or water during my session?

No food or drinks are allowed in the room.

  • What are negative Ions

Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments, such as mountains, waterfalls and beaches. They make us feel like we are “walking on air.” Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin. Serotonin helps to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy. Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy, they also may protect against germs in the air, resulting in decreased irritation from inhaling various particles that make you sneeze, cough, or have a throat irritation. The salt crystals in our therapeutic room neutralize the positive ions we are bombarded with on a daily basis. Positive ions come from the use of an abundance of electronics in our homes and work environments (microwaves, TV, cell phones, GPS, computers, etc). The use of air conditioning depletes the natural atmosphere of negative ions. The negative ions in our therapeutic salt rooms are produced by the 7 tons of natural salt crystal. Our Therapeutic Salt room contains a microclimate which helps ease breathing issues, sooth irritated skin, and restore the bodies natural ionic balance within the body. This is all accomplished by enjoying a relaxing and rejuvenating 45 minute salt therapy session.

  • What time should I arrive for my Salt/Halotherapy Session?

All sessions are 45 minutes long and begin on the hour every hour.

  • What can I expect during the Salt/Halotherapy session?

A dry throat is sometimes experienced; this is a normal effect of the dry aerosol created by the salt generator. This aerosol consists of micron sized salt particles which serve to break up mucus and have anti-inflammatory properties. Developing a cough, runny nose, or sneezing is completely normal and shows that the salt is working.

  • What will happen if I arrive late to my scheduled Salt/Halotherapy session?

Arriving promptly for your session is imperative, as once the session has begun, out of respect for those already enjoying the effects, we do not interrupt the session that has started. If you cannot arrive on time, we will need to reschedule for the next available opening.

  • What is Salt/Halotherapy?

Salt Therapy, also known as Halotherapy (Greek: Halos – salt; therapy – treatment) or Speleotherapy (Greek: Speleon – cave; therapy – treatment) originated in salt caves and mines of Europe. Salt therapy has been used for centuries and recently more and more studies have been done to better understand how it works. It has been noticed that the salt miners of Europe have no reported respiratory issues nor skin problems.

  • How does Salt/Halotherapy work?

Aside from the 7 tons of Salt on the floors and walls, a salt generator also crushes a Pharmaceutical grade Sodium Chloride comprised of 99.9% NaCl (Sodium Chloride) into micron-sized dry aerosol particles that are inhaled. The pharmaceutical grade salt has a higher concentration of Sodium Chloride; this is especially beneficial for respiratory health. Salt particles have anti-inflammatory properties which open the airways and reduce or eliminate mucus from the lungs. Salt/Halotherapy is based on salt’s natural anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory properties and the negative ions it produces. The rich negative ion effect can be felt in nature in places like the ocean, near waterfalls and in pine forests. Our micro climate of negative ions and abundant minerals and elements packs the benefits of three days at the ocean into a 45 minute session. In this day and age we are exposed to a wide variety of electromagnetic fields that produce positive ions such as from TV’s, cell phones, computers, power lines, appliances, etc. Salt’s natural production of negative ions benefits the whole body system and combats the effects of free radicals (positive ions) from our environment.

  • Who can benefit from Salt/Halotherapy?

Anyone can benefit thanks to Salt/Halotherapy’s mood and immune enhancing effects. More specifically, Salt/Halotherapy can be a great benefit to those who suffer from the following conditions: Allergies, Asthma, Acne, Immune System Deficiencies, Respiratory Conditions, Bronchitis, Cystic Fibrosis, Cold and Flu, Cough, Infections, Eczema, Emphysema, Nasal Congestion, Psoriasis, Sinus Infections, Snoring, Sore Throat, Migraines, Headaches (in addition to many others).

  • How often should I do Salt/Halotherapy?

A session will last 45 minutes. For mild to moderate respiratory conditions 10 to 12 sessions are recommended, depending on individual results. For best results the sessions should be 3 to 4 times per week. Since everybody responds differently to therapy, this is provided as an average upon which to gauge your personal experience. After that, one time a week for maintenance is recommended.
